Hello United Fan Forum Members!
My name is B.M. Reynolds, and I am the founder and adminstrator of United Fan Forums. I consider myself to be a fair person and I will do everything in my power to ensure that everyone who normally plays by the rules has an enjoyable posting experience while on this forums. As such, it is necessary to implement a few rules in order for our board to run smoothly, and I have compiled some simple rules for everyone who wishes to post here to live by.
RULE #1- MAINTAIN CIVIL DISCOURSE; NO FLAMING OR TROLLING: I know that sometimes it can be difficult, especially when someone says something you don't like-- whether it be about politics, sports, religion, or something else entirely-- to just break out a big "STFU!" response or something similar. However, what we are attempting to do at United Fan Forums is to reach out to mainly sports fans all across the great nation that is the United States of America who are intelligent, knowlegable about sports as well as any other serious topic that they decide to discuss while on this forum, and are respectful to others during conversation and debate. You have my word that this forum will ALWAYS allow our members to participate in respectful, civil and healthy debate. I will not censor too many curse words so long as they are not directed at another member or a particular group of people. I think this is fair.
RULE #2- COMMENTS, IMAGES, LINKS, AND LANGUAGE THAT ARE OFFENSIVE TO PEOPLE OF OTHER RACES, RELIGIONS AND SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS WILL NEVER BE TOLERATED, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, ON THIS FORUM: I do not find anything unreasonable, at all, with this demand. We all live in the 21st century. We all know the acceptable way to treat and interact with people, and how to actually act like normal, decent, humane, civilized person. Use some common sense. If you even have to ask if an image, comment, or word is acceptable, then you can pretty much bet that it is NOT acceptable. Do not link to other sites or forums that violate this rule. I will not tolerate any violation of this rule and those who violate this rule will be banned from this forum. Enough said.
RULE #3- NO PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL WILL BE TOLERATED: I do not care what you do or look at in your free time or at another forum. We will not allow the promotion of pornography on this forum. We want to run a forum on the basis of intellect and knowledge relating to sports and other topics, not a porn forum. This means that you are not allowed to link or post a picture to any person performing a sexual act or any person that is naked or revealing a private part. You can have the picture of a ridiculously good looking person in your signature, post, or avatar so long as they have clothes on covering up their private parts. We won't be very strict beyond that as long as there are clothes covering the private parts. Also, no linking to or posting anything excessively graphic (death, rape, anything where a person is losing excessive amounts of blood, and any thing else that is sick and nasty).
RULE #4- KEEP THE AVATAR AND SIGNATURE SIZES MODEST AND REASONABLE: We will allow everyone to have a sig and avatar, as well as the freedom to change each of them at will, whenever you decide. Just don't go overboard with those and post huge pictures that end up taking up half the page. Be considerate of others who post here. If necessary, there are free photo hosting sites that you can register with for FREE and do not consume great amounts of your time. My favorite, which I recommend, is photobucket.com/. It's pretty simple to use and will resize your image to whatever size you need it to be.
RULE #5- DO NOT LINK DOWNLOADABLE COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL: It's fine if you want to link a Youtube video or something like that, but linking downloadable copyrighted material will not be tolerated for obvious reasons. I also went over other things that are not acceptable to link in rules #2 and #3. Do not spam this site with links to your website or message board, or any website or message board that you support and want us to visit. You may post ONE link in your sig for every ONE webside or message board that you wish to promote (limit of 3 links in a signature per poster). We might consider stickying a thread on this forum for websites and message boards that we here at UFF support and/or feel that our posters here would be interested in.
RULE #6- DO NOT PROMOTE ILLEGAL DRUGS, ALCOHOL, OR FIREARMS: It's okay to debate (ex: legalization of marijuana, drinking age, etc.) somewhat controversial topics like this, but keep it civilized and do not make comments that could be considered promoting (ex: "weed is cool, bro!") or inflamatory (ex: "Everyone who drinks alcohol is a sinner and damned to Hell for eternity!"). It's okay to mention that you like to drink, or are an avid hunter, or whatever. Just don't go into too many graphic details. Also, do not promote illegal drugs, alcohol, or firearms in your signature or avatar, whether it be in picture form or worded. No pictures of illegal drugs, alcohol, or firearms will be permitted to be posted at any time on this message board.
RULE #7- BE TOLERANT OF NEW POSTERS: I know that it is common internet custom to pick on the "newbie" as sort of their "initiation" into the message board. I'm not trying to step on any toes with this one, but it would very much be appreciated if you treat a person who has 5 posts the same as you do a person who has 5000 posts. I know that on message boards people tend to form friendships with certain posters they like, and will never get along with others, and I am no different than anyone else in that regard. I'm not saying that you need to become best friends with everybody. What I am saying is that if you are going to post here you need to find a way to get along with and/or tolerate most everyone here.
RULE #8- HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR: I can't tell you how many different posters who have had conflict with me at some point or another on an old board that I post at because my funny, joking style just seems to rub them the wrong way, and they think that everyone should be as serious as they are at all times. I won't tell you the name of this site, other than to say it rhymes with Cistons.pom . Sometimes I just want to say lighten up! Yes, there's a time to be serious and have serious conversation. But you also have to have a good sense of humor and not take yourselves too seriously. It's a message board, don't have a hernia just because people are laughing and enjoying themselves.
In closing, I just want to say that for those of you who do join this forum and end up posting on here, I hope that we can provide you with an enjoyable posting experience and that you just have a good time while here. Welcome to United Fan Forums.
